Guided Autobiography Workshops Project
c/o Social Planning Council of the North Okanagan
Vernon, BC

“TELLING YOUR LIFE STORY” GUIDED AUTOBIOGRAPHY WORKSHOP. The purpose of these nine-session workshops is to introduce to individuals to methods of guided autobiography. This Guided Autobiography (GAB) workshop provides participants informal group discussions to explore common life themes that are influential in shaping our lives. An experienced Workshop facilitator guides initial explorations of the life themes selected, and suggests tools and perspectives on preparing for discussions. To prepare for each meeting, participants write two pages on the selected theme and meet in small discussion groups to share. Common themes in the fabric of everyone’s lives for this workshop include branching points, family, money, work, health, death, spiritual and philosophical issues, and goals and aspirations. Limited to 15 participants.  For more information contact: James E. Thornton at (250)558-3487, [email protected] or the Social Planning Council at (250) 545-8572, [email protected]

The Vernon Chapter of the Learning Disabilities Association has been a long standing part of our local community, offering direct service to those who are coping with learning disabilities of various types. Ours is a community-based group, consisting of those who know the difficulties of learning problems first-hand, and the need to assist others in their time of need.  We also assist adults who are learning disabled with accessing appropriate resources for further education or job upgrading.
