Loans Department
The CFDC Loans Department administers a loan fund of approximately $3,500,000. Through this department, CFDC lends to entrepreneurs of the North Okanagan for a variety of new ventures and business maintenance or expansion, with specific loan funds available for youth, persons with disabilities and the forest industries.

The Loans Department uses somewhat different criteria than many conventional lenders as CFDC focuses on community economic development. Loan applications are assessed by a Loans Committee that represents the community.

The Credit Counselling Society of British Columbia is BC's only non-profit credit counselling service. We are dedicated to helping consumers resolve debt and money problems and gain control over their finances. We are federally registered as a Canadian Charitable Organization, and our services are open to all members of the community.

A volunteer Board of Directors governs CCSBC, to insure that our services and programs meet the needs of the communities we serve.

We are licensed and registered through the Business Practices and Consumer Protection Authority. We are members of the Better Business Bureau and Credit Counselling Canada, a National Association of Non-profit Credit Counselling Services in Canada.

Creditors are very supportive of CCSBC, as they know our programs and services are of benefit to consumers and the community as a whole.

CCSBC provides free and confidential credit and debt counselling, debt management programs and personal budgeting sessions to consumers throughout British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. Our professional counsellors have helped thousands of consumers to get out of debt and learn how to handle money and credit carefully.

CCSBC helps anyone who needs advice on how to handle money and reduce or eliminate debt. There are no limitations based upon age, sex or race. Our clients come from all walks of life.

The Public Guardian and Trustee of British Columbia operates under provincial law to protect the legal rights and financial interests of children, to provide assistance to adults who need support for financial and personal decision making, and to administer the estates of deceased and missing persons where there is no one else able to do so.

The Public Guardian and Trustee is an independent and impartial public official and is an Officer of the Court. It is the Public Guardian and Trustee's role to balance protection with autonomy and thereby ensure that people may live in the way they choose with the support of family and friends. The Public Guardian and Trustee is accountable to clients, the Court and the public at large.
